ASSISTANT TEACHER - UPPER ELEMENTARY
East Cooper Montessori Charter School (ECMCS) is seeking a full-time assistant upper elementary teacher. The ideal candidate is a great communicator with both children and adults, organized, and willing to go the extra mile for the efforts of the school's mission.  College degree required and experience teaching children preferred.  Hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30-4:00pm.

Duties:

DAY PORTER
ECMCS seeks a Day Porter/Building Supervisor to clean and oversee plant operations, as well as round out the professional team.  Ideal candidate must be a hard worker, trustworthy, and pass a thorough background investigation. TheDay Porter/Building Supervisor will maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness and appearance of school environment as well as interface with the evening cleaning crew. The Day Porter will also complete minor plumbing, electrical, etc. repairs and maintenance as needed. Sweep, damp mop, high dust and low dust, clean windows, dump trash, clean restrooms. Set up for all events at location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Follow the MSDS guidelines when using various chemicals.
2. Complete minor plumbing, electrical, etc. repairs and maintenance as needed.
3. Place work orders when repair is beyond scope of day porter.
4. Clean building as necessary.
5. Empty trash receptacles.
5. Clean and sanitize restrooms.
6. Refill all paper and soap dispensers as needed.
7. Buff & wax floors 2X per year.
8. Vacuum classroom and office rugs &  carpets.
9. Prepare Purchase Orders for cleaning materials.
15. Set up for events as needed.
16. Empty exterior trash as needed.
17. Keep exterior areas free of debris.
16. Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to push, pull, bend, lift, stand, kneel, and reach arms above head. Must be able to maneuver or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work is, for the most part, performed in an indoor climate of average daily seasonal temperatures. Outside work is subject to varying seasonal temperatures. Employee may be exposed to odors, chemicals, product spills, dust, loosened wax, or water.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or higher is required.

MUSIC TEACHER

East Cooper Montessori Charter School (ECMCS) is now hiring a part-time Music Educator for the 2017-2018 school year and beyond. The ideal candidate will have Orff and drumming experience, enjoy technology-driven projects and have a great knowledge base of music standards. Teacher certification is not required but helpful. The school has a large instrumentarium that includes xylophones, glockenspiels, tubano drums and a wide variety of rhythm instruments. SmartBoards, I-pads Apple and Windows platforms are also used to teach students about music history, theory and composition. The school seeks a team member who enjoys the community connection on working with teachers to build on music knowledge outside the classroom and collaborate on school-wide multi-disciplinary projects. Required Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Music or Music-related field. One year of experience working with children required; 2-3 years working with children preferred.

Position Responsibilities:
Follows all ECMCS policy and procedures;
Becomes knowledgeable about Montessori methodology, terminology and practices;
Provides creative music instruction and theory to ECMCS students in all grades;
Selects and gathers appropriate curriculum materials;
Maintains any records and submits reports deemed necessary by ECMCS; and
Maintains confidentiality for all identifiable information.

Secondary Functions:
Perform all other duties as assigned by the designated supervisor;
Acts as a resource and information liaison to classroom teachers and school staff and provides staff development;
Establishes and maintains cooperative and supportive relationships with parents, students and colleagues;
Attends and participates at staff meetings;
Attends open houses and other school functions; and
Conducts one parent education session per year.
