BETH ARMSTRONG

Upper Elementary Assistant Teacher

Beth Armstrong was born and raised in the Bahamas; her family still lives there and she visits regularly. She moved to Charleston in 1998 to attend the College of Charleston, where she earned bachelor's degrees in Fine Art and Communication. After a series of unfulfilling jobs, she went back to school to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching for Special Education, and found her role in the world as a teacher. She wanted to expand her teaching skills, so she added a MEd in Literacy. During this program, she observed in Ms. Virginia's classroom and fell in love with Montessori and especially ECMCS. She has loved learning and growing in Montessori for the past seven years. She spent five years in Lower El, the last two in Upper, and is so excited to be reunited in a teaching partnership with Ms. Virginia!

Ms. Beth lives on a pond in North Charleston with her husband, Seth; five-year-old son, Thomas; two-year-old daughter, Lainey; and fat English bulldog, Clay. They enjoy digging in the mud and watching the wildlife. Both Thomas and Lainey have been Montessori kids since birth, attending Sundrops, and Thomas is excited to join the ECMCS family in primary this year. In any spare time, Ms. Beth enjoys baking (and the subsequent eating of baked goods), crafting, gardening, reading, and traveling, though she hasn't had much time for pursuing many of those wonderful things since becoming a mama.

Her favorite Dr. Montessori quote is, "One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child."
