Welcome to The East Cooper Montessori Charter School Governing Board
As per the defining concept of charter schools in general, East Cooper Montessori Charter School is a “board run school” that focuses on a critical three-part alliance between faculty, parents, and community members. Board members receive an opportunity to serve an organization they believe in, promote education alternatives in Charleston County, and forge strong personal and professional connections. In return, they offer the charter school their time, skills, knowledge, and commitment. Responsibilities include promoting the East Cooper Montessori Charter School’s mission, hiring and supervising the administrator, setting policies, raising funds, conducting a yearly fiscal audit, and developing the school budget.
Board Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:30 pm. The executive sessions meet at 5:00. Meetings are held in the media center at East Cooper Montessori Charter School or over Zoom. See the schedule here for the 2022 - 2023 school year.
