Middle School Highlights

The Middle School Program at East Cooper Montessori Charter School consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who experience unparalleled challenges and experiences. Dr. Montessori’s observations of the adolescent as well as current brain research drive our program structure.  These students learn best through interaction and activity and they retain small bits of information at a time.  Social relationships are of the utmost importance.  Accordingly, at ECMCS, small groups, short lessons, field experiences, and opportunities for collaboration are paramount to our program.  Through weekly seminars, advisory meetings, and cross-curricular projects, our Montessori students make academic and interpersonal connections at this important time in which finding relevance and having their voice heard is critical.

Please email Anna Chandler, anna@montessoricharterschool.com, with questions about our program.

2019 - 2020 Middle School Financial Week

During Middle School Financial Week, our students have been learning about planned expenses as well as those that are surprises and out of our control.  The students should have a new appreciation for their parents because some of them have children and have been surprised at how expensive it can be to have a family.  Today’s best quote was, “I’m just going to have cats and not children!”

Today, we had a visit from I Heart Hungry Kids and we worked on developing our own nonprofits.  We also learned about banking from a personal banker from Wells Fargo. Vacation planning, savings lessons, menu and grocery planning, and car buying round out our week.
